Jacob Chick

Hi I’m Jacob Chick, I’ve grown up locally here in Lyttelton. My surroundings influence & inspire my art in great depth. My artworks and styles are evolving as I have begun to be more influenced by artists & movements such as Dada, Expressionism and surrealism, Sandro Botticelli, Toss Woolaston, and Renoir. In the future I aim to mix my photography with painting. My art explores views on life and examine the unknown spiritual worlds

After studying with Massey University I have a Bachelor of Design with Honours. Through a Steiner education and full immersion into the Wellington art scene I have developed a unique artistic outlook & creative approach to life. I continue to develop my distinctive style. To build on ideas of humanity, art continue to shape and develop my outlook while disciplined design structures it. This is a process that centres and grounds me.

All my artworks are my own unique style. Digital and analogue works are often print- ed onto fine archival paper, using Inkjet & LED printers. Often my work is based on the energy of the harbour, focusing on forms, lighting and colours. Implying imagination & surreal aspects from nature and the mythological world that exists before our eyes.
