Kahuraki Marino Aroha Bronsson-George

Ōtautahi-born Kahuraki Bronsson-George has always been surrounded by creativity, coming from a musical whānau.

At 16, he joined the Circus (without needing to run away) at Circo Arts, and there was no turning back. He has trained and performed in many spaces, including the Wellington Circus Hub, the Dust Palace, Spin Circus Academy in Australia, and after graduating from Whitireia, is now one of the few Aotearoan's to hold a Circus degree.

Kahuraki has trained in Mau Rākau with Te Whare Tū Taua o Waitaha for over 5 years, and is currently a Pou Rua. He has long worked on his solo Māori Circus Theatre solo show, “Iti Kahuraki”, and is enjoying where the combination of Circus disciplines with Te Ao Māori is taking him. He is passionate about growing a stronger presence of te reo, tikaka, toi, mātauraka and whakaaturaka Māori in the Circus industry of Aotearoa, and among his proudest achievements of 2023 are supporting Te Kura Maninirau in its earliest inception, and becoming Kaitohutohu Tikaka/Customary Advisor to Circability.
